Clearly with Trump as the sour cherry on top of the poisonous GOP cake, Republicans have devolved into the corrupt quagmire that the founding fathers had hoped to rise above.

Yesterday, Chris Hays, on his MSNBC show, all in with Chris Hays, did a wonderful piece on the collapse of the Republican Party into banana Republic ethics — even before the advent of Donald J. Trump as political evil.

Indeed, it has become apparent to thinking folks everywhere that the GOP has lost all interest in democracy, the national interest or aiming for America’s highest ideals. The GOP now aspires to the oligarchic ways of Putin’s Russia. Trump kissing Republicans are quite content to syphon off the public’s wealth into their own pockets by all possible means.

But for a rare few, like Mitt Romney, of the once army of good Republicans, they have long ago left the rotting carcass of the Grand Old Party. These good old line Republicans, like Steve Schmidt pushing the Lincoln Project and Nicole Wallace of MSNBC, folks not tied to Confederate nostalgia or race bating are now woking to combat this new Republican political cancer that has come to destroy America’s better angels. And that my friends is today’s great American Truth.
