Actually God is indirectly hardwired into our primitive ego foundation. The primary mandate of the ego is survival and to seek advantage at every opportunity. Finding a rationale for immortality is where God and religion come into the picture as part of the survival impulse, like even into infinity.

The more primitive the personality the more fanatical the religious impulse.
