Actually, Irene, I’m not all that personally depressed. First off the truth can often be a negative, but if one is obsessed with truth, as I am, the knowledge that it can be a terrible negative is the price one pays.
What worries me is it good or bad to reveal what one considers the truth, or rather allow others to live in uncontested bliss. In other words if you could see the future and know that in, say, 5 days you were going to die a horrible accidental death, would you really want to know that truth or continue to enjoy life free of such terrifying knowledge right up to the ending event?
When you drill deep into human activity, a large part of any activity — religion, sex, work and family — is meant as a distraction to the possibility of suffering and death. So this proves that for most folks truth is not a high priority, which is one aspect explaining Donald Trump supporters. Their guy is certainly a major distraction of outright lies and twisted truths.
