Al Franken For President
If I had my way the Democrats would run Minnesota Senator Al Franken for president in 2020. In the age of TV personalities Franken fits perfect. If Trump is not in jail or impeach by 2020 and has the gall to run again, the razor shape, one time SNL stalwart writer and comedian would give Trump all he could handle and more.
Twice elected to the national Senate, Franken has proven to be an effective, hard working legislator with a friendly sense of humor, but can be a deadly serious and dangerous interrogator when it’s needed, just ask his colleague Jeff Sessions about being grill by Franken.
While Trump has depended on an endless series of lies and over the top exaggerations to entertain his way into the White House, the scrupulously honest Franken would use his natural wit and intelligence to make valid and sincere points that voters can easily understand and appreciate — kind of a down home version of Obama.
It requires a nimble personality to demolish Trump, perhaps the overly brittle Hillary Clinton’s biggest shortcoming. Franken on the other hand would roll gracefully with the political punches as I would expect him to degut Trump’s bullshit with friendly sounding but pointedly effective barbs.
Yes, Democrats get your act together and find a way to unit the old forces of Sanders and Clinton behind Senator Al Franken for president of the United States of American. After four years of Dracula in the White House a competent welcoming face representing the nation would be a great relief to most Americans and the world — bank on it.
