Already GOP Pipedreams Of Managing And Containing Trump Are Crumbling
Since the day of his announcement that he intended to run for president, the Republican Wall Street Establishment has desperately strained — at first to totally derail his push to the White House — and then when that failed miserably, it hoped against hope to at least manage and contain his intentions within the basic GOP ideology.
But the simple fact is that right from the start Donald John Trump has been toying with and using Republicans for his purposes alone. He could care less about their scared agendas. The Donald is like a Tarantula Hawk. This creature is a large wasp that paralyzes a Tarantula and then plants its larva inside the poor spider and by the time the larva eats its way out the host victim is dead and the new wasp is off to repeat the vicious cycle.
Indeed, like the Tarantula Hawk Trump has planted his essence within the traditional GOP and is casually, to the horror of the party’s leadership, eating it to death from the inside out, along with the rest of America.
For instance, a few weeks back Speaker Ryan invited Trump’s top advisers to Washington to discuss tax reform. For hours the speaker carefully laid his out his alternative agenda to Trump’s notion of slapping tariffs on companies that move jobs overseas.
But then several days later, Trump dismissed Ryan’s idea out of hand, brushing it aside as “too complicated.” And now poor Ryan is left staring at a prospective trillion-dollar pothole in his tax plan.
Like a massive force of nature, Trump is relentless mowing down all obstacles that stand in his path. In the end there is no reasoning with him, only capitulation. Like the poor Tarantula at the mercy of the great wasp, Trump is insistently sucking the life out of the GOP, and it is too hopelessly paralyzed to resist — crumble, crumble, crumble.
