Conservatism as played by the Republican Party has always depended upon a heavy dose of fear to gain votes, from Senator Joe McCarthy’s anti commie circus to the Demagoguery of Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump against minorities and the necessary guardrails against capitalistic excesses.
