Look, Democrats, you need to campaign on things that average voters really care about. You’ve got a fantastic platform to run on. Stop missing the forest for the massive thicket of trees. You are the party that fights to protect democracy. You are the folks that strive to bring the good life to average people in the form of Social Security, Medicare and work opportunities. You are the folks who stand against the destructive excesses of capitalism.

Now all you need to do is pound home that basic message while contrasting that sound reality with Republicans who are hell bent on killing off a democracy designed to safeguard the rights of average citizens, employing all sorts of dirty tricks like voter suppression to do it.

You need, also, to repeatedly underscore that Republicans are nothing more than shills for the one percent, the party that sues to cut benefits for average Americans as they hand over America’s wealth to a powerful few and explode the debt to do it.

And lastly the Republicans are now the party that bends to the will of the most corrupt, incompetent and mentally unbalance president in the nation’s history. Never miss an opportunity to shine a bright light on that fact.

All the above must be your entire message. Anything else, like jabbering about who is more progressive or moderate, is a deadly diversion to you mission of rescuing Americans from Republican thievery and blunder, a wondering into political quicksand. Please say on message, Democrats.
