Donald Trump And The Devil

How many times have I seen folks pose the simple question, what does it say about Trump supports that they idolize such a loathsome human being? And of course the short answer is that the pure ego, that which I have been boring everyone to death about over the last several years, is oblivious to all which does not serve its narrow mandate — to survive and seek advantage at every opportunity.

It’s not that folks who have failed to evolve beyond their embryonic ego stage love embracing evil. It’s rather that they have not developed a sophisticated enough self-awareness required to override their own minds primitive foundation. They are, indeed, hopelessly blind to all evil that their ego interprets as serving its hosts selfish interests, that rationalizing filter that bends all facts as immature folks wish them to be.

The bottom line is that a primitive ego doesn’t give a rat’s ass if Donald J. Trump is the Devil himself, as long as it believes that it is its Devil, serving its ends. To paraphrase a great American writer and social observer of the last century, Eric Hoffer, if all the angels in heaven were to come down and tell Trump fanatics that the Donald was a stupid, terrible person, a pure con job, they would shut their eyes and plug their ears for such a message would not deserve to be received.

Alas, were it not for the reality that a goodly portion of any population fails to evolved beyond the blind ego stage, malevolent shysters among us like Adolf Hitler, Jim Jones and Donald J. Trump would be out of business — of no consequence.
