Almost every impulse, thought, notion or opinion, when closely examined, can be traced back to the primitive core foundation of the mind — ego. Indeed ego has limitless manifestations, but its natural mandate is simple: preservation of the individual at all coats and projection of one’s DNA into the future; and to that end it attempts to seek advantage at every turn.

Now of course as most humans mature, there arises to varying degrees a countervailing force of intellectual objectivity. Those, however, who tend to be stunted in this department of reason like to denigrate intellectualism as elitist folly unworthy of real God fearing folks. But like the obvious egocentrism of children, those who fail to develop at least a minimum of intellectual objectivity are said to be childishly immature.

You know, the type that goes around bragging about how smart and crafty they are, when it is so obvious to the well educated and truly clever among us that they are empty windbags. Yes, the Donald puts up a front of absolute certainty about his abilities by which desperate folks craving absolute certainty are easily fooled.

If you were to divide the world into those of pure ego and those of relatively well-developed intellectual objectivity, pure ego would represent the destructive impulse of humankind while those modified with well developed intellects would represent the constructive impulse of the world.

There is nothing more primitively egocentric than religion. Jews claim to be God’s chosen people. Now there’s real humility for you. Or how about the one that says we humans are God’s special creation. This was especially a biggie back when the Roman church insisted than humankind and the earth were at the center of the universe. We now know that the earth is a minor object on the edge of the Milky Way galaxy. Indeed, our ego always wants to place us at the center of everything.

Moreover we see those things closest to us as most important, everything else no so much. This is why regional TV news programs always stress that they are locally focused. That is ego in a nutshell.

You can tell that ego is totally devoid of self-awareness and perspective simply by observing President Trump pin balling disjointedly from one topic to the next — pure blind ego on display.
