Get A Grip All You Impeachment Nuts
First let me say that I like Katy Tur, the MSNBC host. She is brave, sweet and usually quite good at her job, but today I found her irritating as can be.
Nancy Pelosi said she did not think that unless there was bipartisan support for conviction of Trump, impeachment was not a good thing. Katy kept insisting that by passing up impeachment it was setting a bad precedent.
First of all impeachment is not a conviction, it is a political indictment that would require the Republican Senate to convict in order to serve any concrete purpose. And since there is no possibility at this time for the Republican Senate to convict their corrupt leader, Pelosi is simply doing what any good prosecutor would do by not indicting someone she knows can’t be convicted.
Moreover, impeachment is not a legal process but a political one, so that by the Democrats in the House holding hearing into Trump’s transgressions, it serves the same real-world purpose as impeachment, however, causing less aggravation for the country than impeachment. Also, with a presidential election less than two years off, the election might overtake the impeachment conviction process anyway. So over overall, impeachment would amount to nothing more than an emotional tirade, allowing the young Democratic firebrands to feel good.
So I say do the practical and wise thing and allow the House hearings to expose the criminal Trump, permitting the America public the pleasure of ousting the bum. And if they don’t fire the fraud, then the country deserves him.
