Has Trump Made Us Addicted To High Drama Entertainment Politics?

Perhaps the best sort of politics is of the non-drama kind. Meaning that when the grownups are in charge doing what is best for the country and things are going boringly smooth few citizens pay it much attention. It is, indeed, unfortunate that the news and we only pay notice of train wrecks and terrorist’s attacks and folks like President Trump who simulates all that can go haywire.

Hopefully the public will tire of the current sort of politics that equates to the nonsense of professional wrestling. But if this doesn’t become the case, continuing to skate on thin ice is inevitably going to lead to catastrophe. That’s what happens when you let kids like Trump play with matches on the world stage. Those curtains are highly flammable.

So far the president’s breathless staff following after him with fire extinguishers has kept him reasonably in check, but kids have a knack for escaping into trouble. And it’s those sorts of trouble episodes that excite our attention, though we wish it weren’t so.

It is scary to think that the Donald has brought us mostly down to his level, meaning of course that the world and we have surely come to the end of the line, so just let him push the button and get it over already.
