I guess part of a demagogue’s strength is that they never seem to tire of pushing nonsense, while 40% of a society never tire of sucking it up. And, yes, the irresponsible ones seem to get a kick out of seeing demagogues sticking it to the responsible ones. It is like all their lives the irresponsibles have been told to do right and now someone in a position of authority says they are just fine the way they are.
