I like most Americans hold the American Constitution as sacred. But I think the hard truth is that America’s structure of government has been obsolete for many a year. For just one huge example, democracy makes no sense where a tiny faction of the folks in North Dakota get the same Senate representation as the tens of millions of folks who live in California. I mean the government was designed during a period when all sorts of compromises were being made to accommodate slavery for heaven’s sake.
So a big part of the problem of why the government can’t keep up with the times is that the fundamental infrastructure of government hasn’t keep up with the times, mainly because we humans (the ego mostly) hate change, especially intrenched politicians. Yet I can’t see where there is going to be any poltical will in my lifetime for government modernization.
