I think there is a way to a better form of capitalism, but those pushing for it will have to be very careful how they frame their objective in order to get past all the years of capitalistic and anti socialistic propaganda imbedded within the America psyche.
In other word one will get nowhere trying to sell the notion that America needs to become more socialistic. In many folks eyes that’s pratically treason. The better sell is simply to say that America’s great capitalistic system simply requires a few fundamental adjustments that will open up its benefits to all Americans. Capitalism needs to be improved, not obliterated.
In other words stress that predatory forms of capitalism need to be reined in. Moreover there are parts of the economy that the government can administer far better than the private sector, but don’t restrict the private sector from competing in such a space with the government.
In your example in another post you showed how capilism in health insurance could not possibly be improved. You were absolutely right. Insurance adds nothing of value to the healthcare industry. It functions more like a protection racket, getting a cut for basically nothing.
I don’t have the time at the moment to suggest the complex adjustments needed to bend capitalism to ways more suited to the life of the average Joe, but yet doesn’t drive capital away from the American shore.
