I used to be a big Bill Clinton fan, but when you understand what his “triangulation” did, not so much so — killed the Glass Steagall Act for just one thing. Then Hillary went and played footsie with Wall Street, thus helping kill her bid for the presidency.

As far as Obama bailing out the banks goes, there is a great book , Stress Test, written by the then Secretary of the Treasury that makes a great case for why they had no choice for doing what they did. I highly recommend it. The claim is that they were literally hours away from an economic meltdown whereby if they didn’t bail out the banks immediately and allow a few million poor people to lose their homes that around 70% of average Americans would be wiped out. They were in the horrible position they said of having to reward the arsonist who set the economic fire. The optics were, indeed, terrible, a case of where the obvious isn’t quite so true.
