I wish I could be as sanguine as you about evolution being on the of cooperation. The human spirit is always looking for the bright side, which I admire. We must try to stay optimistic in the face of adversity. In the cold, reality of the way the world works, however, if evolution were favoring cooperation it would have to violated the law of probability balance that favors nothing. Still, we as individuals must strive to stay on the positive side of the equation. To wallow among the destructive forces as does our president has no reward where it really counts.
