If you notice, Barbara, over the last ten years we have two powerful trends moving in opposite directions. On the social front things such as gay rights and other liberal agendas, and even the election of a black president, are making great strides. This progress is being offset at the macro political front by the GOP and its Fox news propaganda agency gathering up all of America’s clueless and bad eggs into a single force for evil, with dangerous results.

This unfortunately fits perfectly with the ultimate law of the universe, probability balance, that says that creation and good at some point in time must always be offset by destruction and bad. What is a bit unusual now is that positives and negatives in the social /politic arena, as noted, are running pretty much concurrent.
