In the US good girls born before about 1950 were taught in not so subtle ways that they were not supposed to enjoy sex. Sex was simply a tool to be employed for getting from a man those things that she desired--marriage, a family, a new dress.

In return for mostly bypassing the pleasure of sex, girls were allowed to self righteously sneer at other girl who did enjoy sex and to call them whores as a way of feeling superior.
