Is there really anything new going on here or have we simply come up with better tools with which to detect and define such problems. In other words in past times folks couldn’t point to some currently defined malady and say, see that’s what I have.

In time I’m sure we will all be diagnosed with at least a dozen or so serious problems that today fly under the radar. Indeed a better microscope doesn’t mean that there are suddenly more flaws than before.
