It is an ego thing that folks take so long to see newly revealed truths. One’s ego is primarily meant for two purposes. The first is identity. If folks were max adjustable in their beliefs they and no one else would know them from one day to next. Second ego is a me first defense mechanism. It is meant to keep one alive and at the top of the heap as far as possible.

The negative offset is that once ego accepts something as normal and true, it will fight like the Devil to hold on to that idea. Thus the more conservative is one, the more primitive the ego and the less willingness to adjust to new ideas.
