Putin is playing the part of Adolf Hitler taking over Czechoslovakia in March 1939 with his designs on Ukraine, except that Putin has a nuclear arsenal that can destroy the world ten times over for those who might wish to inhibit his ploy. Now a lot of Western folks will say that Putin is not going to risk nuclear war with its mutually assured destruction over Ukraine. After all Putin may be a vicious killer, but he is not crazy. Or Is he?

Putin is not your typical filthy rich, playboy oligarch who just wants to have fun and will cave into any Western sanction that might threaten his bank account. No. No. Putin like Hitler before him thinks he has a special historic destiny to regain his nation’s power after it having been stabbed in the back — Hitler was incensed over the crippling treaty of Versailles following Germany’s capitulation in WWI, and Putin is furious, in his eyes, of the West’s exploitation of the fall of the Soviet Union.

Both had and have dreams of national rebirth and grandeur. They are emotionally based, not rationally driven objectives. Hitler saw himself as another Frederic the Great, Putin sees himself as a second Peter the Great, all of it infatuations that make them a little crazy and a lot dangerous.

I mean, what are the Western Democracies going to do if Putin rolls over Ukraine and starts rounding up for torture and killing all whom he thinks might be opposed to him. Are we willing to play nuclear chicken with a possible nut case to stop hum? Because if this poker game keeps on going folks, that’s where it will finally end up. You can bet the ranch on that my friends.
