It Is Much Better When Major Political Parties Are Relatively Close As To Ideology And Preferred Policies
There was a time when cranks and extremists complained that there wasn’t spit difference between Republicans and Democrats. Maybe so but those were the days when compromise was possible and things got accomplished and that was good. In fact when you think about it, when political parties are far apart they both can’t be right and chances are that one party, to the detriment of country and its average citizens, is very wrong and gumming up the works.
In fact when one party is very wrong for the country, it’s almost a sure bet that the nation’s misfits and low information voters will be attracted to it like a moth to a flame, enticing the formation of an unscrupulous media to service its usually xenophobic impulses, and thus eventually opening the door for some other low information personality to end up as president.
I’m now beginning to get the feeling that the more responsible Republicans might finally be waking up from their self created nightmare and will soon be willing to cooperate with Democrats for the good of the country, not just the interests of the one percent. Moreover, as the party begins to moderate and cooperate with Democrats, perhaps the party’s crazies will become exasperated and begin drifting away, returning to wherever it was that they came, causing sanity, cooperation and progress to once again rule Washington.
If you think this is a pipe-dream let’s see how things stand after the 2018 midterms.
