It is precisely because those who possess the capital are becoming more and more the hoarders of wealth, so that there is less and less in circulation to fund the public good. Collections have to now be taken up to provide teachers with school supplies. Dominos has to volunteer to patch potholes. There is not enough money to pay teachers and first responders, let alone update and repair the nation’s infrastructure.

Meanwhile, with all this suicidal tax cutting, the super rich can’t find enough things to do with their mountain of money except buy off more politicians to give them even more tax cuts. We have unknowingly returned to serfdom — one man of the town owns it all.

Jim Ridgway, Jr. military writer — author of the American Civil War classic, “Apprentice Killers: The War of Lincoln and Davis.” Christmas gift, yes!
