Nice article, Rob. Around 2004 I went on a special European tour of the battlefields of WWI & II from Normandy to Berlin. And when flying back to the US from Berlin it was a perfectly clear (cloudless Tucson type) day where you could see the entire German capital from end to end. I though, wow, what WWII bomber pilots wouldn’t have given for such a spectacular view of the target. Of course the Americans stayed mostly with nighttime bombing runs.
