Humanity runs on OCD, obsessive compulsion disorder. Some much more positive and productive than others. The following is a list of the most common forms of OCD:
Religion, science, drugs and food, sex, romance, family, crime, hoarding and shopping, sports, gambling, business and investing (money making), card games like poker and bridge, social media as with Facebook and Instagram.
These obsessions all have one underlying theme — distraction. We live in a universe in which the ultimate law is “probability balance.” Creation is at some point in time inevitably offset by destruction. Stars are born stars die.
At any moment we humans can be randomly struct down by disease, a bolt of lightening out of the blue or run over by a Mack truck. We hide from such terrors by our obsessions.
