Often times I see folks quit a on the edge of success and I get the feeling that they simply don’t feel as though they deserve success or fear its burden.

And you are right. Finishing a work is the important thing whether it is appreciated by a single person (you) or millions. In fact I know of one great philosopher, Spinoza, who was instrumental in opening the door for modern science that was said to have sold but a single copy of his master work during his lifetime.
