Oh Boy Tax Cuts

Forget the deficit, healthcare, infrastructure, basic research needs and the real economy, everyone likes a tax cut, especially those who think a tax cut is for them, right?

Now Democrats will tell you that the Republican tax cut is nothing more than a big payoff for their super rich Republican donors, but it’s much more than that. You see Republicans can read the political winds. They know that with crazy Don in the White house, and after having shoveled billions to their fat cat contributors, voters are going to turn hard against them in 18 and 2020.

Therefore it is necessary to get destructive types of tax cuts in place before Democrats regain power. This will force Democrats to eventually have to raise taxes in order to rescue the government and economy from this Republican fiasco. This of course will play right into that old Republican mantra that Democrats are those tax and spend nuts. Even though contrary to perception, raising taxes is often necessary to either restart an economy or keep it going.

In any event, in broad terms, the idea of raising taxes never plays well with the general public, and that perception is about all the Republicans have left. So its mandatory for Republicans that they lower taxes way below what is good for the country right now so that when Democrats are back in power they will be forced to raise taxes in order to save the country, giving Republicans political ammunition they will desperately need.
