The Nobel Prize is named after Alfred Nobel, the inventor of Dynamite because he thought it would bring goodness and peace to the world. Now as seen from hindsight that seems super naive.
After all technological advancement means that someday we humans will get to the point where we can recreate ourselves flawlessly. Some folks find that terrifying. The negative offset of course is that this class of super humans will surely dominate and exploit old-fashion humans. You gain something, you lose something. That is the law of probability balance.
