Over the last 150 years thousands of synthetic materials have been created and few of them have undergone extensive testing as to their effects on the human body because vested interests want to maximize profits. In fact there are cases where within an industrial setting certain chemicals are considered highly toxic yet are sold to consumers like they were candy — ridiculous.
