Paul Ryan And Other Party Leaders Are Just Now Sickened By The Donald — Really!
Ever since the civil rights push in the 1960s, underneath their warped conservative ideology, the GOP, later greatly aided by the toxicity of Fox News and conservative talk radio, has been pandering to the nation’s lowest common denominator. It needed all the White votes it could possible gain to offset the growth of minority voters. It was and is a win at any cost strategy.
Thus while at once paying lip service to family values, the Constitution and American exceptionalism, a rot at the very core of the party has grown year by year until the real soul of the party has come to embrace the mindless values of Donald J. Trump.
Obsessed by holding on to power by any undemocratic means it could get away with, the GOP leadership is finally being forced to pull its head out of the sand and face the unholy mess it has made of itself.
For eight years of the Obama presidency time after time Republicans have been willing to throw America under the bus via a strategy of relentless obstructionism and a mountain of racist based lies. Now who better to put a face on those lies than the all-time confidence man phony himself — Trump? He is the perfect embodiment of the political and social rot that is the current GOP base. Republicans have at long last met the enemy and it is themselves.
