In Hitler’s rise to power one of his key tactics was to create chaos in the streets. Violence always favors the right. It was critical for Nazism that Hitler could successfully bate the communist left into battling his Brown Shirt thugs in the public square. Then Hitler could say to the German masses, give me power and I will restore order.

As we saw today in Trump’s bizarre press conference, all that was needed for our disgraceful president to muddy the waters and say that the “alt-left” was as much to blame as the alt-right is some pictures of two groups fighting. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the supposed other side in the fight against the haters weren’t hater plants.

Please remember folks when these hate groups do their thing, without someone to directly combat their efforts, it’s a pointless waste of time. The great women’s march following the Donald’s inauguration is how marches and protests for goodness are all powerfully effective, not by seeking out demonstrations by society’s lowest common denominators and giving them something against which to battle. Physically confronting the alt-right is a trap. It gives them a spectacular platform from which to display their vicious and most dangerous nonsense. Indeed, good people of America, fight the hateful scum in every way possible except via physical confrontation.
