Please, Maria, don’t confuse intellect with IQ. Yes, there is a significant bias as far as folks with high IQs also possessing an enhanced intellect, but certainly not necessarily so. For instance I used to play bridge with a guy possessing a super mechanical IQ who was a wiz at computing basic card combinations by the book, but he was no intellect outside of rule based systems.

Indeed,. it is not all that difficult for primitive emotional biases to override high IQ, especially when it comes to politics and religion, because both of these elements flow from the primitive survival mechanism tied in with the egos most powerful mandate, the wish to live forever, which does extend into super natural, fantasy beliefs.

That is why true believers can be both smart and incredibly irrational at the same time, depending on the subject at hand, and explaining the oxymoron religious education.
