Ship Of Fools

According to the latest polls 80% of Republicans love the Donald, which means that virtually a 100% of the party’s base loves him. So how is it that a xenophobic, narcissistic, compulsive lying slug of a man is so beloved by the GOP base? Simply put the Republican base is a ship of fools.

You see the Republican mantra of smaller government and less taxes and regulations is a one trick pony dodge for turning government programs designed to benefit all Americans into programs cleverly structured to benefit mostly the super rich, and the leverage they use to accomplish this feat is their ship of fools base.

The GOP Wall Street establishment has put a great deal of energy and thought over the last thirty years into building this masochistic foundation, folks easily lead to vote against their own best interest out of fear and hatred of the “other” — minorities. What the GOP establishment had to do to expand this primarily White base of fools was simply to dog whistle that they too have a dislike of foreigners (the Chinese are stealing our jobs) and minorities, causing disgruntled Whites to give their vote and soul to Republican political shills who then promptly jammed it up their butt sideways. But since hate is such a powerful unifying agent the base has taken little notice of such treachery.

But then along came the Donald who did away with the dog whistling nonsense and instead came openly, full bore, with the xenophobic messaging — Mexicans are rapists and murderers and Moslems are all terrorists — and the base loved it. They saw it as refreshing, “honest” and entertaining, which in a perverse sort of way it was. Of course at first the GOP establishment was stunned that their messaging was so soundly “trumped” by a gadfly outsider. But they have since adjusted and figured out ways to exploit, the now, President Trump’s unique talents, or at least they hope they have.

Meanwhile the Republican ship of fools continues on its merry way of screwing itself and the rest of the country in support of the orange one. It has become for our nation a sad, oh, so sad adventure in political sickness.
