Putin’s Russian Bear is a trapped creature wrapped in a nuclear suicide vest. If the bear panics all humanity dies. I know it’s painful to watch the death and misery of the valiant Ukrainian people at the hands of Putin’s crazed antics, but, alas, Ukraine’s temporary suffering is the cost of the worlds survival. Of course it’s not fair, but life is often brutally unfair as we are forced to choose between the least of all bad choices.

Yes, the Russian military has an immense array of conventional attack hardware to deploy against Ukraine, but Ukraine is a relatively vast country. Moreover, Russian corruption has rendered its military a ponderous mess of inefficiency. It has low morale, poor maintenance routines, sad leadership and most of all terrible logistical capability. It’s military operations are missing the basics of food, water, gasoline and backup ammunition supplies,

More and more its tanks and trucks are being abandoned to the enemy. In other words this Russian invasion is a clusterfuck of the first order, even though it can still inflict tremendous damage on structures and innocent life.

Now, I generally agree with the themes of the comic Bill Maher on his HBO show Real Time, but his nutty notion that when Putin overruns Ukraine he will move on to gobble up one NATO country after anther just shows how uninformed he is about Russian military capability. Even Putin knows that his conventional forces are no match for the awesome power of NATO’s weapons systems. This is why he has to keep hysterically threatening the use of his nukes, and if pushed too hard he will panic and turn hell loose upon humanity.

The current allied formula of supplying the Ukrainians with intelligence, ammunitions and small arms anti tank and airplane weapons is working just fine on a military level while waiting for the Russian army to self-destruct, as meanwhile the entire Russian economy is being crushed under an avalanche of international sanctions far beyond anything ever seen before.

Stay the course, it’s working.
