Oh boy, the taking heads are suddenly babbling ignorantly about tribalism and why it has grown so pronounced in recent years. It’s really not all that complicated to discern. Tribalism is one of the primary manifestations of the human ego. The ego being the crucial driving forces of our survival, that which compels us to want live at all costs and to seek advantage to that end.

The positive aspect of the tribal impulse is to cause people of a like kind to band together for group advantage in support of their individual advantage. The negative offset of the tribal impulse is to hate and fear the “other.” Simple right? Tribalism presents opportunity for both good and evil.

Now the evil aspect of the tribal impulse is often used by charlatans for devious political advantage, setting one group against another — Hitler stirring up hatred against the Jews and Trump stirring up hatred against Mexicans and other minorities to gain power.

The simple — and it should be obvious — reason that the negative aspect of tribalism has recently boiled over in this county is that conservative media like Fox News discovered that peddling fear and hatred is a highly profitable business while parts of the GOP use it to gain political advantage, causing the GOP and conservative media to work together hand in glove for mutual advantage — money and political power — the hell with the grater good of the nation. This created the perfect atmosphere for an egotistical opportunist and would be dictator like Donald J. Trump to jump into the lucrative game.

Meanwhile, corporate America is cashing in big time with its predatory brand of capitalism, especially the military industrial complex, while Americas’ security and legal systems are struggling to figure out where they fit into this toxic mess.
