That’s your flaw old sport, you’re looking for Mr. perfect. We will be doing good if we can just stay away from Mr. horrible. By the way a great book that puts all of this awfulness in perspective is Jon Meacham’s latest offering, “The Soul of America: The battle for Our Better Angels.”

I just finished the chapter on Joesph McCharthy. I’m old enough to remember his crazy demagoguery — a commie under every bed. As you know Trump’s mentor Roy Cohn was McCarthy’s chief counsel. Ironically Cohn explains the reason for McCarthy’s downfall, which looks exactly what is likely to be Trump’s demise as well — overexposure.

He said McCarthy was impatient, over dramatic, didn’t get his facts straight and eventually folks just got bored with the same dumb act. Bottom line is that bullshit salesmen like McCarthy and Trump have a limited shelf life when on center stage.

After McCarthy’s reign of terror collapsed he drank himself to death. With Trump it will be different. Once he realizes that folks have become bored with him, he will simply go stark raving mad for lack of attention. Since he is pretty well already down the crazy road, his complete disintegration should go quickly.
