The Affordable Care Act was originally a conservative Heritage Foundation think tank and Republican creation of the 1990s.

Mitt Romney in Massachusetts relatively successfully tested it at the state level. But when Barack Obama became president in 2008 and wanted to take the same healthcare concept national, Republicans, not wanting to see Obama get credit for it, derisively nicknamed it Obama Care and said it would destroy America, and have been vowing to repeal it ever since its passage into law.

So now their opportunity is at hand and the Republicans are at a loss as to how to carry out their promise of repealing the program that has become critical to the lives of millions of Americans, even to some of the clueless that mock it.

The trick of course will be for the Republicans to convince their know-nothing backers that they have repealed and replaced the evil Obama Care without seriously harming the program. This will allow the Democrats to have a field day pointing out the silly smoke and mirrors game that the Republicans are playing.

And so we can expect to see this kabuki dance around the Affordable Healthcare Act run full circle from Republican inspired to Democratic implemented to Republican slight of hand reformed.

Can you say, O’Trump Care?
