The human ego, the most primitive part of the MIND, is humankind’s primary defense mechanism. It says that not only I’m the center of the universe — me, me, me — the first impulse of a young child, it says I am so important that I and my offspring must be saved at all costs, even unto eternity. The latter part of the ego drive is responsible for the notion of Gods or God and religion.
