The point is, Gabriel, democracy is the best bad choice we seriously flawed humans have for governance. Those politicians you decree are us — period. We are all that we have to work with. We are at the mercy of the ultimate law of the universe, which operates on the simple principle of probability balance. This means that at some point in time creation and good must be offset by destruction and bad. There is no magic means to circumvent this harsh reality.

Stars are born and stars die. Peace is offset by war, and on and on it goes. Good democracy in time must be offset by crushing despotism. The high character of Obama was offset by the sleaze of Trump.

In the end the only thing in the universe that thinks that we are of any special consequence is our own hardwired egos, so done by nature as a survival mechanism.
