The President’s Best Scam Ever?

Years ago owners of giant corporations would trade their company stock ahead of their own important announcements. They could short the company stock then issue a negative statement about the company’s business outlook, making money as the stock’s price tumbled. Then buy back the stock at a nice low value before issuing another announcement saying that things were actually much better than previous believed, making more money as the stock price nicely rebounded. This is what is today termed insider trading. It’s a lot harder to get away with insider trading now because of laws designed to stamp it out, but it still happens and most likely a lot more than is discovered.

So what do you suppose, my friends, are the possibilities if you are the president of the United States, being one of the greediest, most corrupt humans on the face of the earth, one who has the ultimate say on trade negotiations with China upon which the radical movements of world market prices depend? I can see that you are already way ahead of me here.

So, yes, Trump and his pals, maybe even Putin and a few other key Russians mixed in, might want to put together a syndicate employing a massive array of shell companies leading eventually to trading companies, perhaps based over seas. I mean, really, there is no limit to how networks can be internationally configured to benefit Trump and friends, the proceeds ending up in a maze of Swiss bank accounts.

All that needs doing is to have someone not obviously tie to Trump pass the word a few minutes ahead of time to the “network” that Trump is about to either make a negative or positive tweet about the China negotiations. A massive market position could then be quick assumed that might net Trump and his merry band of insider traders to the tune of billions of dollars of profit in a matter of minutes of his economic tweet. How beautiful a scheme would that be, my friends?

Of course Trump, being Trump will not be able to keep his oh so brilliant con job a secret — bragging as usual — and we can thus add one more charge to his list of indictable offenses. He will naturally pull a host of others down the rat hole with him, because, remember, everything and everyone Trump touches dies. That means you to Moscow Mitch.
