The purpose of a real democracy is to protect average citizens from the excesses of the rich and powerful , and clearly that has never been the case anywhere on the planet.

This is because nature has hardwired humans to always want more. In fact when a man has almost everything he become agitated evermore over that little bit which he is yet to posses.
