The Rise Of Organized — For Profit — Evil
The way society works is that a lot of folks have to live poorly so that a few may live lives of grand luxury. For example there are the lush lives of Putin and his supporting oligarchs feasting off the average poor Russian. For you see, friends, we humans are programed to endlessly seek advantage at every opportunity (as a part of our basic survival impulses) no matter how well off we have already managed to become. Thus excess itself becomes evil.
Thousands of years ago it was normal for conquering entities like the Roman Empire to enslave people that it vanquished, the winners thus living the high life off of forced labor. But then along came Christianity that took a dim view of slavery, though a system of indentured servitude did manage to persist over time. But more importantly for future generations there were a few minor passages in the Christian Bible that hinted at the possibility that black people where somehow less than human. This quickly was seen by aggressive Whiles as a green light from “God” that slavery of black people was the natural order of things. In fact all non White native peoples in the new world became viewed as either expendable or a special labor force given from God, a force to power White wealth.
As much as it tries to hide the matter, a large segment of White America, still, at some level of consciousness, sees folks of color as something meant to be exploited for its own advantage. But organized evil for profit encompasses far more than race. There is the fossil fuel lobby destroying the earth’s environment; the pharmaceutical lobby bloodsucking the sick and elderly; the gun lobby murdering our children, minorities and folks in general. And of course there is the right wing media, lead by Fox News, cheering on the evil doers for big bucks (check out Tucker Carlson’s rising wealth over recent years) — spreading lies, fears, and hatred among aggrieved Whites devoid of even a minimum level of rational intellect.
But not only is spreading fear and hatred of the “other” a big moneymaker, it also acts as a smokescreen for the nation’s true evil doers.
Since the mid 1960s the for profit evil ones have been concentrating in the Republican Party, causing its better charactered members to drift away as the party races to bottom of the human barrel, ending up with only the lying, violent, and obsessively greedy ilk among its ranks — (you can throw two Democrats into that cesspool: Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema). In fact so exploitive and corrupt has the GOP / MAGA Party become that it is on the verge of swallowing up the our great democracy with ease after a bumpy start with the failed January, 6 insurrection.
But in any event, alas, organized — for profit — evil currently thrives in the United States of America to exactly what tragic end is hard to say, but easy to dread.
