The short version of what I think you are saying, Mike, is that the engine of human adaptability is redlining and in danger of blowing up. The human ego hates change. Once it decides what is true and right, it clings to it beyond all reason. Thus each new generation becomes more and more out of whack with the older generations. Indeed, technology is stressing the rate of change factor of the human psyche.
