The spirit of the Declaration of Independence and our American ideals coming out of Philadelphia and Boston have been passed to California. The ugliness of the Confederacy — enslavement, poverty and exploitation of the masses — have been embraced by Trump and the Republicans. Hopefully California can save the Union a second time from the ravages the hateful underbelly of America.
