The thing is, Barbra, I’m a very simple person. Thus I try to drill down to the few large forces that determine life. In other words I’m far more in interested in the tides of life than the surface waves. Thus the extintion factor draws my attention far more than poetic niceties or failures of society.

For instance we have been hanging by a thread on nuclear extinction since the late sixties and only missed by a few seconds of setting that extinction process in motion on more than a few occasions. Our luck can’t hold out forever. So anthing that effects that potential trumps all other factor by a million miles.
