The trouble I find with past philosophers is that they mix in way too much of a poetical streak in with their ideas. In other words instread of striving to expose what is they concoct a story line of how they belive things should be. Now that simply may be a case of science not having advanced as much as today a hundred plus years ago, giving their notions something of a conspiracy theory coloring.
