The ultimate law of the universe says that at some point in time creation is always offset by destruction — probability balance. Here on earth we humans are inescapably subject to that same law. We have had a magical run of creativity, but the seeds of our own destruction are built into that creativity — enough nuclear weapons to destroy us ten times over. And now we have put a fool’s hand on the trigger of those hellish weapons of doom.
