The way the Tribal impulse is wired into us matches what I call the universal law of probability balance. This means that in time creation and good is always offset by destruction and bad.

With the tribal impulse the good is that like-folks band together for common advantage. The negative offset of course is that hatred is directed at “others” — balance. Humanity just can’t escape that balance until the nuclear offset ends it all.
