There has never ever been any doubt that the world (humanity) at some point in time must come to an end. However, as with individuals who never believe that they are going to die tomorrow, mostly because we are hardwired not to be able to comprehend our own demise in specific terms such as to time and circumstance, we also as a species constantly deflect any serious notion that the world in total will terminate tomorrow.

Unfortunately because of a massive confluence of factors, tomorrow keeps getting closer and closer.

First off the universal law of probability balance says that we are very close to the final negative offset. Probability balance means that all that is positive and creative must at some point in time be offset by that which is negative and destructive. Over the top scientific advancement has made humankind past due for a horrendous offset, and tens of thousand of nuclear warheads on hair trigger alert is the perfect means to that end.

Exponential population growth in combination with global-warming is forcing more and more folks into smaller and smaller inhabitable regions of the earth, possessing less and less resources such as water, as the seas rise and deserts expand. Add to this that wars are driving more and more people into lands where they are unwanted — spillover — it’s all having the same catastrophic effect as when too many rats are crammed into a cage. Only in the case of humanity, it’s rats with a thousandfold overkill nukes.

Indeed, the little old man carrying the sign that the end of the world is near at hand isn’t exactly wrong. It is just that over the years he has had terrible timing. But, alas, I fear his time is now very close. Maybe tomorrow?
