“Those journalism jobs never came back — nor did they magically morph into Journalism 2.0, Journalism, but Faster and Better and Cheaper! They just…imploded. I’d bet that a lot of those people are either unemployed forever, back in school, or eking out an existence doing lower-paid, far less secure work.”
They came back okay, just not in a paid form. The offset (and there is always an offset in life) is that tens of thousands of blogs like Medium popped up, and as usual some good, some bad. I mean, in the good old days do you really think that someone like me could be spouting off to the world day after day.
As long as we have the Washington Post and the New York Times to counter the nonsense of Info Wars and Fox News all is not lost. The worse things get, the better things get. Yes, we have a big job in America to offset the negative parts of capitalism in areas where capitalism doesn’t belong like healthcare, but perhaps just when it looks like the Donald and the hollowed out GOP is going to deliver us to Putin’s Russia, hope comes storming back in the US House of Representatives — BALANCE.
